Happy Autumn Equinox!

The seasons are changing, the kids are going back to school and we're moving into cold and flu season. It is the perfect time to get healthy and release the toxic waste from last season so we can move forward into the fall looking good and feeling great.

Fall Equinox

The Fall Equinox is September 22, and it is the beginning of the fall season. Equinox means “equal night.” On the spring and fall equinox, the day and night are of equal duration.

Astrologically, the spring equinox is the beginning of the astrological year with the sun entering Aires. The sun enters its opposite sign, Libra, at the fall equinox.

The Cycles of Nature

There is one spirit that creates all life, the universe and all humanity. Therefore, we are one with nature and all humanity. When we are in line with flow of nature and the seasons, we are in the divine flow of the universe and we can harness the power of creation. When we go against the flow, we go against nature and we struggle and suffer.

Life is cyclical –birth, life, death and rebirth. The dawn is the birth of a new day, noon the sun is at it’s height and we are the most active, at dusk the day is dying and midnight is a time of rest a rejuvenation, we should be asleep.

Fall is traditionally a time in nature of death and endings. The new shoots push through the ground in spring, they blossom and grow in the summer to die and fall from the tree in autumn. These dead leaves rot and decay on the forest floor and become a compost to fertilize the new growth of spring. Autumn is the decline after the height of summer, and the harvest. We are moving towards the hibernation of winter and feeding the new growth of spring with what we release today.

In Chinese medicine, there are 5 elements that comprise all nature and the human body. The 5 Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

Each element corresponds to a season, organ and emotion. In the fall, the element is metal, the organs are the lungs and large intestine and the emotion is sadness and grief.

The Metal Element

The metal element is about letting go and taking in, throwing out the garbage and allowing in new life.

Metal also represents self-esteem and self-worth, precious metals. It corresponds to the Divine Father (Earth is the Divine Mother), respect, guidance and spirituality.

The fall is about pruning away what is not working in our lives so that we can create something new. Meditating on what we value and whether we are truly respecting and valuing ourselves with the decisions we’ve made this past season. Receiving divine guidance from the Heavenly Father to understand what new energies that need to be sown or what new path we need to take.

 The Large Intestine

Large intestine is the waste removal system of our bodies. Toxic emotions are stored in the toxic waste and fecal matter trapped in our colons. The large intestine releases not only toxic waste from our food, but also mental, emotional and spiritual waste, especially sadness and grief.

People who are constipated (less than 1-2 bowel movements per day) have difficulty letting go of things emotionally. Holding onto toxins creates diseases such as colon and breast cancer, diverticulitis/diverticulitis.

This is why we cleanse the colon at the Fall Equinox. If you’ve never cleansed, the large intestine is the best place to start to ensure the removal of waste from the body.

The Lungs

The lungs take in new energy, oxygen, life force energy (qi or prana),

As well as new ideas or “inspiration.” The Divine spark gives us life in the form of oxygen. It is important to breath deeply, purifying and oxygenating our blood.  Kundalini yoga and is one of the best things to do at the fall Equinox. Kundalini yoga incorporates a lot of breathing exercises, such as the Breath of Fire. It is a cleansing breath called that is very useful.

Toxic Bowels

Americans have pounds of compacted fecal matter accumulated in their colons. We all have parasites, yeast overgrowth and bad bacteria in our intestines robbing us of energy and decreasing immunity. Symptoms of a toxic colon are constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, fatigue, frequent colds and flu, skin problems, allergies, sinus problems, yeast infections, acid reflux, headaches, brain fog, bad breath, dark circles under your eyes, protruding abdomen, cancer and autoimmune diseases.

 Toxic Emotions

There is a connection between our mind, body and spirit. When we hold on to toxic emotions such as fear, anger, resentment, and worry, we tend to store toxins. These toxic emotions are stored in our physical toxic waste. When we cleanse, not only do we release physical toxins, we also release spiritual and emotional toxins.

Disease Prevention

It’s easier to prevent than to treat disease

Physically, toxins in our bodies give rise to degenerative diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

Increase Nutrients

“You are what you eat” What are you feeding your body? During cleansing we consume a nutrient rich diet filled with alkalinizing fruits and vegetables that nourish our bodies at a cellular level.

The change of season is an excellent time to cleanse mind, body and spirit. It is an energetic opening to create a new season in your life.

Autumn is back to school and the beginning of cold and flu season. It is important now to release toxins, increase nutrients and boost the immune system to be prepared for winter.
